Product FAQs

Hemp oil has been studied and used medicinally by humans for centuries, and its about time we let pets in on the secret! Initial testing and research suggest there are many health and wellness benefits of using hemp oil in animals, including increased mobility, reduced pain and inflammation, and calming of anxiety and hyperactivity.

Zoe Hemp Oil can be used in young and old animals, large or small animals, and in a variety of breeds. You can use our products to treat specific health concerns, or simply to improve your pet’s overall health and wellness. No matter how you prefer to use it, Zoe Hemp Oil contains only the highest quality natural ingredients, selected by our veterinarians to maximize the benefits for your pet.
Absolutely! All of Zoe’s products are 100% legal. Zoe hemp oil is a safe, lawful, and natural product with effective health and wellness benefits for your pet.
No, Zoe Hemp Oil will not get your dog high or buzzed. Our primary ingredient, hemp, does not contain active amounts of THC, which is the ingredient in cannabis with psychoactive properties. This means Zoe Hemp Oil products are non-psychoactive, and it is not possible for your pet to get high or overdose using hemp oil.
It is always a good idea to understand any side effects associated with the products you give your pet. While Zoe Hemp Oil will not get your dog high or “buzzed” (see also “Will Zoe Hemp Oil Get my Dog High?”) in some pets, administration of hemp oil may cause drowsiness. Zoe Hemp Oil is 100% natural and organic hemp oil, and unless your dog has a specific allergy to any product that is listed on the product’s ingredients list, there are no other side effects to Zoe products.
Hemp oil is generally safe when given with other medications, if you have any questions about combining hemp oil with your pet’s existing medications, it's always best to consult your veterinarian. Feel free to reach out to our GoodVets team with any questions - we’re happy to help!

Usage FAQs

Tinctures are one of the oldest methods of concentrating plant compounds in medicine. Tinctures extract the benefits and nutrients of a plant, and concentrate those extracts into liquids that can be easily and conveniently consumed.

Zoe Hemp Oil is a tincture of concentrated hemp extract, designed for rapid absorption and effectiveness once ingested by your pet. Once the hemp oil is administered using the dropper (see also “How do I apply Zoe Hemp Oil?”), it is quickly absorbed through the membranes of your pet’s mouth, meaning the hemp oil can directly and effectively get to work.
Zoe Hemp Oil is applied orally using the dropper included with the product. Fill the dropper with the desired dosage of hemp oil (see also “What is the proper dosage for my pet?”) and for best absorption, squirt the contents of the dropper under your pet’s tongue or into the space between the teeth and cheek.
We have based our dosage recommendations on industry standards and peer-reviewed veterinary literature. However, every animal is unique, and the most effective dosage for your pet may be different than the standard recommended dosage listed on each Zoe Hemp Oil product. That said, each Zoe Hemp Oil product contains these general dosage guidelines designed to be a safe and effective starting point for administration of hemp oil to your pet.

Under 20 pounds - we recommend ¼ of the dropper (0.25ml); twice per day.

Between 20 and 50 pounds - we recommend ½ of the dropper (0.50ml); twice per day.

Over 50 pounds - we recommend 1 full dropper (1ml); twice per day.

Ultimately, because every pet is unique, and every pet owner has different goals in administering hemp oil to their pet, your pet may require less OR more hemp oil to get the desired effect. For example, if you are using Zoe Hemp Oil to calm your pet’s anxiety or hyperactivity, a lower dose may be needed than if you are giving it to relieve joint discomfort or improve their mobility. So, if you want to tinker with the recommended dosage to see more beneficial effects for your pet, that’s ok! We recommend that any dosage adjustments be made slowly over time, so you can best track the impact and benefit to your pet (see also, “Can the dosage size be increased?”).
Once applied, depending on the size of your pet, it can take 30 minutes to a few hours for the product to take effect, and most pets will see an initial effect within 2-3 hours. However, some pets, and particularly large dogs first starting on hemp oil, may require a week of two of the recommended dosage to see beneficial effects.
The recommended dosage frequency is twice daily. Typically, the effect will last 4-8 hours after each dose, but individual results will vary depending on the size of your pet and dosage given. Some pets will do well with once a day administration, while others may see better results with up to 3 doses per day.
No need to worry, if you miss a serving just resume the same regular dosage as previously administered. If you are restarting your pet on Zoe Hemp Oil after some time off, it may take a few days to see full beneficial effects (see also “How long does it take the product to take effect?”).
Yes, dosage sizes can be increased without risk to your pet. The recommended dosages on Zoe Hemp Oil are intended to generally benefit all pets, but if you aren’t seeing the level of benefit you are looking for, or want to address an event-specific concern (such as big play day at the park or upcoming thunderstorm), you can increase the dosage amount.

Each animal is different, and you may find that increasing or decreasing the dosage amount results in greater benefits for your pet. We generally recommend to start with small incremental increases or decreases to your pet’s dosage, and to adjust from there slowly over time until you see the desired results in your pet.
Significant increase in the dosage of hemp oil given to your pet may cause drowsiness (see also “Are there any side effects”). Products containing psychoactive substances, such as THC, are more likely to be associated with adverse side effects if overdosed.

Zoe Hemp Oil does not contain active amounts of THC or other psychoactive substances, and is a 100% natural and organic hemp oil product.
Long-term use of hemp oil or hemp extract in dogs has not been thoroughly studied.

However, hemp oil is intended to have life-enhancing health and wellness benefits for your pet as it gets older, and many pet owners give their pets ongoing “maintenance” doses for the rest of their lives.
